Sadness & Sovereignty

I have a story to share about a little girl named Diana. I met Diana in Kenya, coached her during Bible Quizzing in efforts to memorize the book of Luke, and prayed with her for her mom, Rosaline, who worked as a house-helper for a missionary family and had been admitted to Tenwek Hospital.
Today-I received word that Rosaline passed away. For whatever reason, I am not always an emotionally responsive person, but that news hit me hard and my heart grew super sad as I grieved for Diana and the people at Tenwek directly affected. God brought me to Tenwek, designed a relationship between Diana and I, took me away, and has plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). While I am learning to say, "God gives and takes away; blessed be his name" I grieve for Diana and pray that she will continue to grow in knowledge and love for our God. Already, though, I can say he is good, simply because he is God.

"Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God (Deuteronomy 7:9).

p.s. Diana has been taken in by a friend named Emily.
