African Adventure!!!

This post will be a little long so please feel no pressure, but I wanted to tell the story of how it is that I, Sarah Nicole Wisner, am planning to leave for Bomet, Kenya, Africa in 17 short days!

November 3, 2008- I received a forwarded e-mail from my mom sent by Suzanne Hayward who was "floating a balloon" as she threw out the possibility/hope of my being available to come teach missionary kids during her family's time of serving as doctors at Tenwek Hospital.

November 11-
I'm going!!! (one and 1/2 weeks of prayer, discussion, pondering later) found out for sure that my position as long-term substitute teacher at Milwood Magnet Middle School in Kalamazoo would be ending on Dec. 19. Had by this point felt God leading me to say YES to this opportunity to serve Dan, Suzanne, and the other families; also hoping for possible Kenyan orphanage ministry opportunities.

November 24- bought my plane ticket to Kenya, leaving Jan 11; $1,432; Step of faith.

Nov 24-Dec 19- finishing strong teaching at Milwood; buying below the knee length skirts at Goodwill on Saturdays; cherishing shared moments with friends

Dec. 20- Torey and Wade's Wedding!!! A joy to share in this celebration

Dec. 21-
Christmas busyness begins full force. Family and friends galore as I try to "squeeze in" every special moment I can before I leave, all the while making lists and tackling "to-dos' in order to be ready to leave

Already I stand once again in awe at how amazing God is in his total provision for those who trust Him. I have had moments of "worry" at how everything will work out, but over and over again he whispers the greatness of who He is and his love for me. Thankfulness for the support I have from everyone I talk to about this trip overwhelms me, but even more fills me up as I prepare to leave my friends and family here to learn more about what our world is like outside of all I've known thus far. Please pray that my heart is soft to God, His word, and the needs of people around me. May HE be honored in all things!
